The Resilience Toolkit for Pregnancy
at Del Mar Birth Center

2-part workshop

Monday, February 12 | 7:00pm-8:30pm PDT
Monday, February 26 | 7:00pm-8:30pm PDT

Cost: $185/couple or $95/person

Research shows that stress before, during, and after pregnancy has a tangible and long-lasting effect on children and families. Join us for a compassionate look at the unique stress pregnant people experience during pregnancy, and how regulating the nervous system can lead to better outcomes for both pregnant people and babies. The Resilience Toolkit helps expecting parents and birth partners feel calmer and more able to meet the challenges of pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum.

The Resilience Toolkit is a suite of mindfulness and movement tools that engage the body’s innate rebalancing process—providing an immediate experience of relaxation.  Develop a self-care practice that benefits not only mom, but baby and family as well.

In this 2-part workshop, you will:

  • Begin to develop an embodied awareness of personal stress and relaxation cycles.
  • Cultivate strategies to regulate stress symptoms that are distressing, too strong, or last too long.
  • Start a regular practice of The Resilience Toolkit to build internal resources and external resilience over time.

The Resilience Toolkit for Pregnancy is focused on expecting people, but birth partners will participate for their own benefit as well. The practices work for all body types, are easily adaptable, and are safe for pregnancy and postpartum. Once you’ve learned the skills in The Resilience Toolkit, both parents and partners can practice them independently, at your convenience. Empower your body to heal itself, and open up to a greater sense of joy and wholeness.

Instructor: Nkem Ndefo is the founder of Lumos Transforms and creator of The Resilience Toolkit. Hypnobirthing(R) and Childbirth Education
with Nina Phelan

5 week Sunday Afternoon Series

March 4 – April 1

Cost: $425 per couple

Hypnobirthing (R) is a powerful tool designed to help couples relax and trust the birth process. It is as much a philosophy of birth, as it is a technique. This amazing program teaches a woman, along with her birthing companion, the art and joy of experiencing birth in a more comfortable manner; allowing a woman to connect in to her own birthing instincts.

HypnoBirthing (R) breaks the Fear-Tension-Pain Syndrome by working directly to release conscious and subconscious fears.

Hypnosis helps:

  • take a woman into a relaxed state
  • create and control her body’s natural anesthesia
  • release fear and pain

Nina Phelan has helped support hundreds of couples through pregnancy and childbirth.
Her classes encourage women to re-discover their deep power from within, while uplifting their partners to have an active role in childbirth.

She is a certified HypnoBirthing(R) and ICEA trained Childbirth Educator, Birth Doula, Certified Lactation Educator (CLEC), Prenatal Yoga Teacher and Reiki/Energy Healer. She is also an EFT Practitioner and a sought after Mindfulness Coach.
She creates a safe haven where women and couples can reconnect to the beauty and soul-fullness of pregnancy and childbirth.

Childbirth Preparation
with Britta Bushnell PhD

6 – week Wednesday Evening Series

January 24 – February 28

Cost: $475 per couple

Preparing for your birth with Embodica is stepping into truly holistic childbirth education and preparation. These classes prepare you for birth not just in the mind—learning about the process of birth from the mother’s perspective, but with your body and with your intimate relationship too. Preparing for birth involves learning how to cope with the possibility of pain, intensity, and fatigue while also and perhaps most importantly, preparing for the unknown and unknowable aspects of labor, birth and new parenthood. These classes help you tap into the internal resources to navigate your birth journey with heartful intentionality rather than fixed goals. You will learn what to do when you don’t know what to do. Natural childbirth means doing what comes naturally to you.

Britta has been working in childbirth since 1999. After training directly with Pam England, creator and author of Birthing From Within, Britta became the first Certified Birthing From Within Mentor in Southern California in 2005. She has since guided hundreds of parents along their journey into birth, whether their first, second or third time. In addition to Birthing From Within training, she is also a Yoga Works trained instructor who has been practicing and studying for over twenty years.
